Why should you listen to this episode
Maja has worked in various positions and in several locations of an international corporation for 15 years. And she has seen that the end of every year was the same. She wanted to change the end of year and she realized doing meaningful work was the key player that will create this change for her. She set her mind on it, planned it and executed it. She created her business and has been enjoying her success already in the first year.
If you’d like to change your career direction, create your own business or keep yourself motivated for any meaningful goal of yours, this episode is for you.
The Key messages I took away
If you want a different result, you should do something differently. And regarding increasing the life satisfaction, it was the work that Maja needed to change.
But how? And to what?
The first thing was to gain CLARITY; clarity about what she was good at, what she can offer and what is beneficial to others.
She asked these questions not only to herself but also to her friends, family and colleagues. That gave her clarity about what her unique story was, what value she could bring to the world and how she could share it.
Once there was the clarity, the next step was to BELIEVE in what she found out.
She set an intention for herself. She visualised the result, she scribbled it, created a roadmap and hanged it somewhere that she can always see. She set her INTENTION, and then put her ATTENTION.
She CREATED TIME for her idea. She attended courses, developed herself, and -one of the most important catalysers of her change- surrounded herself with people who she would like to be like.
She reached out to her network, she strengthened relationships, she reached out to other entrepreneurs and some of them later turned out to be her business partners.
She took the time to plan things. It took her 3 years to make the jump. She knew she wanted to make the jump with a parachute. So she saved enough money to live for a year, created her roadmap, surrounded herself with people she wanted to be like and at one point it felt the most natural thing to quit her job and start her business.
The moments of stuckness came from not having the clarity and doubting herself by saying “Am I doing the right thing?”. Sometimes the doubt-statements came from other people but she realized they were actually her own criticising voice.
It is so easy to be critical of yourself. It is part of your journey and the critical voice is going to be smaller and smaller. I try to work on amplifying the voice of self love, that voice that says “you are on a good track, you are doing something good, go for it!” - Maja Arsic
